BASH Strategic Work since November 2025

To fulfil its mission statement BASH engages with National and International Organisations.

Current workstreams/ committee representation:

National

BASH is represented on the GIRFT (get it right first time) Headache pathways for England

BASH will be represented on the NICE group reviewing CG150 and the inclusion of candesartan

BASH is represented on the National Migraine Audit

BASH met with and reviewed the Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee’s headache guidelines for UK ambulance crews

BASH met with NICE and the Migraine Trust to discuss educational sessions for clinicians

The BASH nurses’ group have developed a nursing competency and educational framework for the management of headache disorders which has been endorsed by the Royal College of Nursing


NICE submissions

BASH submitted a response to the NICE assessment for atogepant as an acute migraine therapy

BASH submitted a response to NICE Consultation | Transvenous embolisation for treating cerebrospinal fluid-venous fistula associated with spontaneous intracranial hypotension


International

BASH members have been instrumental in the creation of an International Headache Society Special Interest Group for headache nurses

BASH members have been instrumental in the creation of an International Headache Society Special Interest Group for GPs
