BASH is delighted to announce that there will be a Primary Care training event on managing migraine as part of the Migraine Trust International Symposium.

This is an educational event delivered by experienced GPs with a special interest in headache, all of whom work in headache clinics. It will give you more confidence to manage people with headache and in particular, migraine. Speakers are all part of our BASH GP group. Learn more about this group here

  • A Headache Overview.

What types of headaches do GPs see?

Dr Katy Munro, BASH Secretary and Headache Specialist at the National Migraine Centre:

  • Children with headache

11% of children get migraine and other headache types. The needs of this group are particularly unmet. This session will cover the diagnosis and management of children and adolescent headache presentations.

Dr Rebecca Walker, GP with an Extended role in Headache and Women’s Health:

  • Migraine and woman’s health

This session will cover the implications for womens’  health and migraine, in particular contraception, menstruation, pregnancy and perimenopause.

Dr David Watson , GPwER in Headache,

  • New migraine treatments

New and effective treatments are available for both the acute and preventative management of migraine which will be available for GP's to prescribe. This session will give GPs confidence to use them in their management of people with migraine.

Dr David Kernick, GPwER in Headache, and co-author of the Oxford Handbook of Headache Disorders

  • Surviving the ten-minute headache consultation

It's difficult to manage a headache presentation in 10 minutes. This session will offer tips and guidance to manage both the new headache presentation and the chronic headache with multi morbidity.
